about the band

The six-piece band Andy Dickens Band plays accessible and enjoyable jazz in a variety of popular styles that range from New Orleans through Swing and JumpJive to Bop, Latin and Funk. Described by Southampton Jazz Society as “The Who’s Who of Jazz in The South of England” the band features several names whose jazz reputations are both national and international.

In addition to Andy Dickens on trumpet and vocals, the band includes saxophonist and clarinettist Pete Effamy, and the rhythm section of Andy Trim on drums, bassist Brett Nevill, and guitarist John Coverdale is completed by the exciting piano playing of Andy Daniels. For concerts, recordings and often by specific request from clients, trombonist and arranger Adrian Fry joins the frontline.
