Equally at home in a New Orleans setting or in the company of bop, mainstream and modern players, Andy's individual style echoes Roy Eldridge, Lips Page and Clark Terry.

Andy has toured and performed with Americans Slim Gaillard, Franz Jackson (Duke Ellington), Joe Darensbourg (clarinet with Louis Armstrong All Stars), New Orleans Gospel singer Pearly Tyler and UK stars Peter King, Clark Tracey, Annie Ross, Bruce Turner, Dick Morrisey, Humphrey Littleton and John Barnes.

Festival appearances include Ascona, Travermunde, Breda, Dresden, Mannheim, the UK Swanage Jazz Festival in 2003 (with Clark Tracey); and an appearance as a guest soloist at the International Jazz Festival at Gronau, Germany, in the company of top American and European artists. Andy Dickens is well known as a teacher of jazz, running courses in improvisation and jazz development. For those of you interested in technical matters Andy Dickens plays a Calicchio trumpet and flugel horn. He uses the Warburton mouthpiece system for trumpet and a Yamaha Bobby Shew Signature Model mouthpiece on flugel horn.
